Calling all adventure lovers and travel writers, PWE student Karen Clegg is looking for contributors to her travel website and online magazine, ExplorersTracks.
The idea for the website was born when Karen created a five-page travel magazine spread for an assignment in Working with Text and Image. This year, the website came to life in Astrid Edwards's Creating Digital Content class. The site offers free content like videos and stories as well as travel guides to purchase.
ExplorersTracks is now expanding by opening up a blog for contributors to publish content. We all know how daunting it can be submitting stories to publications, so Karen wants to support her peers by providing a friendly space to get their writing out into the world.
Submissions should focus on the 'roads less travelled', including people, places, experiences, travel lessons, tips and tricks, 4WD tracks and destinations, hidden gems, free camps, and things to see and do in a particular location. Content can also be creative work like an Australian travel-themed poem, travel memoir, outback character profile, or the contributor's own personal story about living on the road.
This collaboration enables ExplorersTracks to feature a wide range of diverse and exciting content while providing emerging travel writers with a place to publish work and expand their reach. Unfortunately, they cannot pay contributors at this stage, but all articles will be accompanied by an author bio and links to the author's website and socials. ExplorersTracks will also promote you through their own social media: Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr.
You can find submission guidelines here and terms and conditions here.
